ginger rabbits

Young Bun
hi i have seen a beautiful litter of ginger coloured rabbits at pets at home, i would luv a rabbit that colour but really dont want to buy from there, is thiis a common colour or am i going to struggle, thanks

Yellowy orange yes they're a fairly common colour in rabbits, bright gingery red like the rabbits in my sig are not so common, there's only a few breeds that come in this colour and they are all rare, or the colour within the breed is rare, please don't buy a rabbit from pets at home, if you're that desperate for a ginger rabbit find a responsible breeder if you don't want to wait

Yep they are fairly common, they come in all shades of orange :)

It is unlikely you'd see a rare colour or breed in a pet shop.

My Tango (in my signature) is pretty orange!
He came from my local Blue Cross rescue centre. If you don't mind what breed or if he/she is a random mixture, I'm sure you'll find one waiting for a home in rescue :thumb:

Orangey/Gingery buns that I found after only 2 mins on Rabbit Rehome:

There will be hundreds in rescue, the above are just a few, you just have to look. Why not go to your local rescue centre and have a look round?

thanks everyone , am in contact with my local rescue but my little girl is only 4 months old and not yet neutered and ll the rescues ive seen have adverts that say bunnies must be homes with neutered rabbit so not sure what to do as i dont wanna wait to long in case bonding becomes an issue, and vet told me need to wait till about 6 months to be neutered x

At 4 months old she will be getting hormonal, so you would likely have problems if you tried to bond before she is neutered. Its a lot easier and less stressful for the buns if they have both been neutered for at least 4 weeks, preferably 8, before bonding.

Some vets will neuter earlier, my girl was neutered at 15 or 16 weeks. But if your vet is rabbit-savvy and you trust him best to stick with him.

Like others have said proper ginger is unlikely in pets at home rabbits.
