  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Just been clipping nails tonight and caught one of Jess's. He hates being handled ( cruelty case) which only makes it worse. My vet said he'd got strange nails as a couple grow in different directions. It was one of these that bled. My husband was nearly fainting. We had put cornflour on and given him a treat. Bleeding has stopped but I feel awful. I do all the others without problems. Will get vet to do him next time!

Awww :( I've never attempted Hopscotch's as have always been seeing the vet regularly to get them done there! But might have to soon as not been for a while

I do remember always feeling awful when catching the guinea pigs and making them bleed though :(

I'm sure he will forgive you :)

I have done the same thing myself  I too felt awful

I am sure Jess will forgive you, it is usually harder for us to forgive ourselves !!

Thanks guys :D.

There was just so much blood Jane!

Husband keeps winding me up, saying things like ' is he ok, after you nearly chopped off his leg? '
