  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Baby rabbit with runny bum

R.P.B.G.G

Mama Doe
One of our baby buns has a runny bun seems a little lethargic.

Is moving around and has energy just seems a little off colour.

Any advice?

I woud definately take him to the vet asap, only because my rabbit spooks when i first got him was the same and within a few hours he was in critical care and having to be on syringed food and daily antibiotic injections, and was at the vets for a week. It could be coccicidiosis which is very common in young animals. Early intevention with coccicidiosis can save its life. Hope the little one gets better soon

It seems to have been just the one bout, I cleaned bun up and there has been none since, we gave some water orally to see if it would drink and it took 0.4 and has been pottering round with the others this arvo, if I do notice it again, Ill wip his straight to the vets, if he hadnt have perked up I would have taken him straight there
