  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Slightly strange behaviour...

Young Bun
Hi everyone, am probably worrying for no reason but, with bunnies, you never know. Just a moment ago, Alfie was relaxing comfortably, and lying down, then suddenly got up and scampered to his little duvet that we got him to hop/play on (we have wooden floors so he slides a little), and peed on it!?! He then went back to where he was lying and was breathing faster than normal. He is now breathing normally but hope he is ok? And that I am not being paranoid! We have been trying differrent kinds of hay with him eg Meadow, Tims & Rye, and Ings so maybe its just the different hay he has had recently? Or maybe its just because its rather hot at the moment? This has only happened once - tonight...
:(

can you mist him too cool hm down abit if he is hot or put cool damp flannel over him, or get a frozen water bottle for him, and fresh water hope its just a one off and he be ok

Does he usually we on it? If he needed a wee it's not unusual for them to go to a specific place where they want to mark their territory.
