The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Having myxi/VHD on same day as injection for ear mites

Hattie

New Kit
Hi,

Our rabbit Luke was scratching his ears a lot so we took him to be checked at the vets who advised he have a course of injections for ear mites (3 injections, each 2 weeks apart). He is also needing to have his combined vaccination for myxi/VHD. Just wondering if anyone has experience of thier rabbit having both the ear mite injection and the other combined one on the same day? The nurse said she would have to find out from a vet but the vet we saw (its a different one each time) said he saw no reason not to, but also didn't seem particularly good with rabbits (handling etc) so now I'm left feeling unsure due to his dismissive attitude.

Any help appreciated!!

Thanks :D

Hattie

I am guessing it is the same with ear mites, but our vets will not give a vaccination while being treated for skin mites as it is an indication that the immune system isn't working as well as it could be.

Sorry I haven't got any advice on this question.

I do remember an old bunny who used to come and stay with me. She had a weakened immune system and had a course of treatment for mites, but never managed to rid herself of them. Bless her, she also had other ongoing problems.

I hope everything goes okay for your bunny.:thumb:
