Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Cut lip.... :o(

My gorgeous little Bramble bunny has cut her lip :( I got home last night and I ran my finger up and down the wire mesh on the hutch (I do it all the time cos she chases it around :D) but when she came up towards me I could see her little lip was cut :( it looks clean, no sign of infection etc. I wondered if it could be stopping her eating so I got her some basil leaves but within seconds they were gone  she's obviously not too hurt!

I wonder whether it's the newspaper I've been putting in the hutch instead of saw dust? They have been ripping it up and playing with it :? hope she's OK bless my little girl!

Awh, I hope bramble's lip heals soon. I don't use newspaper and Harvey gets random cuts on his lips so it could be things other than newspaper. Harvey has a habit of binkying whilst sat close to the edges of his hutch and run so I think that's how he does it  as long as it looks clean and is not stopping her eating she should be fine :) Harvey's healed in about 3 days and he had no problems :)

Thank you :) I just got home from work and she seems fine... The cut has scabbed over and it looks clean (nice and red no manky green bits!)

She seems perky as usual so hopefully no real harm done!! :D
