  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Lily finnished a course of metacam for sneezing (the vet checked her over and everything sounded fine, there has been no discharge at all and her eyes are clear) so she thought it might have been some dust or something stuck in her nose...she didnt sneeze at all on the metacam but since her course finnished she is back to sneezing all the time again :( still no discharge and her eyes are still bright...Im going to take her back to the vets but im after some advice and I know alot of you have sneezy buns!

The vet said she had a couple of tiny spurs on her teeth when i took her in for the sneezing...could this be causeing the on-going problem? they were very small and not causing any obvious irritation on her tongue or cheeks. She is growing but still on the small side.

She eats really well and loves her hay! :thumb:

So any advice would be great :)

Having a snuffle bunny myself that's the first thing that comes to mind, if you've ruled out other possibilities like an allergy? How often does she do it? Does she have actual sneezing fits?

I'm not sure about teeth potentially causing a problem :? Especially if she's eating well and her eyes are clear? If I were you I think I'd take her to the vets just in case. If she has snuffles she'll need antibiotics.

I also don't know about the link between teeth and sneezing, but didn't want to read and run. :)

My rabbit Teddy sneezes, but after two trips to the vets we are satisfied he has a wee allergy to hay. (I'm keeping an eye on him though). Occasionally he sneezes out of the blue but he nearly always sneezes when hay is moved around. He doesn't take sneezing fits though.

Good luck!
