Really scared for Smoo UD/ we're home

Jenova

Wise Old Thumper
I picked her up and she kicked out, I thought she'd caught my hand and there was blood, but it wasn't mine. I thought she must have caught her nail but I couldn't find the nail. But there is a lump on her stomach by her privates. There was blood on it. I think it might be a tumour.
So scared. It could also be a lump of poo, the fur is all matted on it. I'm too scared to check properly. Going to go back out and do it in a sec. Please, please can it just be a lump of poo. But the blood was on the lump, like she'd kicked and caught the lump. Poo doesn't bleed. Please, please Smoo don't have a tumour. It's right by her lady bits, it doesn't look good. I have no money either. So I'm already in debt at the end of my overdraft for Grim. I know the vets will let me have credit but I hate doing that.:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Perhaps its some poo that has stuck to her and when she kicked out it pulled her skin and made it bleed?

Sending looooads of vibes that its nothing serious xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Not yet. I've just given her some food and snuggles. She ate a couple of dandelion leaves. Boiling and cooling some water and getting cotton wool to clean the area. My poor baby Smoo. I feel so awful, I was showing her where the dandelions were outside that I'd grown for her and she just kicked out and then there was blood. This lump is like the size of a ping pong ball. I know if I hadn't picked her up I might never have found it until it was too late. But the vet clipped her fur maybe a month or two months ago, surely it couldn't have grown so quickly. Please, please be poo.

Sadly they can grow very quickly. When I noticed a lump between my dogs back legs I took him straight to the vet. The first time the vet saw him it was about the size of a walnut. He was admitted a couple of days later to have it removed, and it had grown to about cricket ball size! Luckily it was only in the skin, they took it off and it has stayed away. Fingers crossed that its poo, but even if it is a lump it might not be that bad. If it's just in the skin it is a fairly simple op to remove and has a good prognosis, providing they can get a margin around it. Vibes for Smoo.

I found skin.

Now I don't know which vets to go to. The really good ones that are 2 hours away and I trust completely, but every time I take Smoo she gets really stressed. Or the closer ones. I've only taken my hamster there recently but they were very good. I could get her checked over at the closer one, and if they agree with me and it needs to be removed I can book the surgery at the good vets. But it's going to be better for her to go to the close one. I might ring All Creatures and see if they can recommend someone at the closer one. It's not like Grim where he needs a specialist, any vet should be able to tell what a tumour is, shouldn't they?

There is an out of hours vet at Taverham that got Sprocket through a bloat episode so they should be rabbit savvy. Or are you thinking to wait until tomorrow? You could also try and get her to Hall road PAH, they have a good rabbit savvy vet and are open until 4 today.

I wouldn't make it by four. I was going to go tomorrow. I'd rather get her seen by a vet I trust or that my vet can recommend to me. It's obviously been there a while, another half a day shouldn't matter, I hope. Hall Road stole my other rabbit savvy vet. I used to have two in Yarmouth, one went there and the other to All Creatures. Why do pets always have to hurt themselves on a Sunday? :(

Could be an abscess. Maybe she got a tiny cut when she was clipped and this became infected ?

When you say you 'found skin' what do you mean exactly ?

It wasn't a lump of poo. I found the skin at the bottom of the fur. :(

It could be an abscess, but she's currently on antibiotics (penicillin injections) for a jaw abscess so I would assume that it would treat any other abscess. :?

I'm going to ring All Creatures tomorrow and probably take her there. I'm sure Gorleston vets are fine but I'd rather go to a vet I trust. I hope they'll let me pay some back later. My mum might lend me some. I wish so much I hadn't lost my job.
