Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Kit Age/Feeding

A lady's emailed me a pic of a kits she's rescued from a farm with a leg injury and she'd like some advice on feeding. She was told it was 12 days old but I'm thinking closer to three weeks? As it's out of the nest and eating lots of hay. She's also feeding pellets soaked in kitten replacer.

Anyone give some advice on diet or confirm age? It's a rex which I think makes it look a little younger as their fur doesn't fluff as much :)

I agree with 2 and a half to 3 weeks.

Tough one. It's not got an adult stomach so would need some sort of supplement but should be predominantly on solids and stuff. I would be inclined not to syringe the supplement but to provide a bowl and see if the bunny would take it like that.

mine were 14 days when they started nibling hay, they are 17 days old now and are eating lots of hay and starting to nibble pellets. I think they look about the same as the little rex kit.
