Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Anyone had a bun with crusty nipples?

Was at my mum's house the other day, and while I was playing with Angel I felt something hard on her side.
When I looked closer it was her nipple :s Most of them seem to have developed a yellow crust on the tips of them.
I'll be back tonight to have a closer look but was just wondering if anyone else has seen this before..
She's unspayed and coming up on a year old, could it be her hormones?

Any answers appreciated, I really want to know what this could be.

It could be hormonal. Is there any chance that she is pregnant or has she recently raised a litter ? If not she may have had a pseudopregnancy which included her producing milk.

She needs to be examined by a Vet and I would advise that she is spayed. This will improve her quality of life and her longterm health.

Def's no chance of her being preggers. Never been near another bun, and she's a house bun.
Booking her in to get spayed asap, before I get her a wee friend.
I'll get to the vets as soon as i'm able. Panicked when I looked this up on google, apparantly it may be a sign of cancer?
I'll wait to see what the vet says.
