  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

annoying scab

Lolly's mum

bella has developed a little scab on her shoulder, i don't know how she got it unless it was a reaction to her VHD jab that she had in March. it dosn't seem to bother her as she dosn't nibble at it or scratch it , however, edward is obsessed and keeps licking/chewing at it.

i've booked both of them into the vets on friday as they are both due their myxi boosters and a pawdicure.

what do you guys think it is?

if the vet prescribes antibiotic cream, whats to stop edward from licking it and poisoning himself?

i can't seperate them as they are a married couple

any advice would be really appreciated.

my girl dutch rabbit has the exact same thing but the people that we bought her from didn't tell us anything about her having a jab and we haven't had her jabbed yet. my other rabbit which is also a female lionhead is licking and grooming her around that area but i have once seen her take fur out of the dutch rabbit so as i have a 2 storey cage i put the bridge down and they seem much more relaxed rather than chasing eachother around and trying to bite one another but the dutch is afraid of the lionhead, and on this website i had some info from other people saying that they are trying to be top female. please tell me the results that she has from the vets. thankyou and i hope that her fur grows back and that the male does'nt poison himself whilst trying to lick/groom the female:cry:. u could also tell the doctor about the male licking and grooming the sore area
