  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Is "Pingy" really pregnant?

Young Bun
I had to give away my female rabbit to a pet store for her kindling process coz I didn't have space at home.
She lived with a male rabbit of around 4-5 months and her age is like 3-4 months right now.
She started making a nest from her fur and gathered stuff from here and there,
I visit her twice in the pet shop and today, when I checked her, I didn't feel anything in her abdomen, like those marbles things.
She had nipples developed, but no marbles likes lumps in the abdomen.
She has also stopped making a nest @ the pet store.
Is this that Phantom pregnancy or Real Pregnancy?

Did you get a vet to examine your female bunny before you gave her to the pet shop she might not be pregnant :?

You should give her to a rescue instead, where she (and possibly her kits) can be cared for and eventually spayed, vaccinated and rehomed to somebody who loves her.

Pet shop owners don't generally know much about the animals they sell. She should be checked by a vet to see if she is pregnant, being kept in a noisy pet shop with lots of smells will only stress her out and could compromise the kits' health if she she really is pregnant.
