View Full Version : Pasturella tell me everything!

I want and need to know everything bout Pasturella!, The vet and i have spoken about Ulfric and he showed me an Xray of Ulfric's chest and he diagnosed that he suspected Pasturella was an underlying illness?
i know i cant bring him back but what did i miss how could i have missed it?

Please tell me what i could have done to save my boy?

Pasteurella is a bacteria which can cause many symptoms in Rabbits. But they can also be ASYMPTOMATIC carriers. One of the most common causes of a loss under GA is a case of latent (ie NO SYMPTOMS) Pasteurella where the lungs are the organ effected, often with lots of little abscesses. Your Vet will have done a pre op check and listened to Ulfric's lungs. They obviously gave no cause for concern. This can happen, it has happened to my Vet a couple of times in the past.

I doubt you did miss any symptoms, there may not have been any to see.

Thankyou Jane!, youve no idea how guilty i felt seeing his lungs like that and thinking i must have missed it!

also reading, should i ditch all his stuff to save transfering any illness?
