  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Normally I start a thread because something is up with Bob, but today Pat has decided to have her turn. Came down for breakfast from the hutch, had a few bites of breakfast, flopped and crawled around on her tummy, very obviously uncomfy. The silly sausage, why when its raining so hard! All I can think is its related to them both moulting at the moment :(

Vets is open at 8.30 so will be calling for an appointment then.

Pat and Bob are spending the day at the vets. Her tummy was definitely doughy and not right, but the vet couldn't feel any masses or blockages. Never had Pat in stasis before so I don't know how she will react to the stimulant so the vet has kept her in to monitor her (when Bob is in stasis his reaction to the meds is almost instant).

Will pick them up tonight, all being well.

Thinking about it maybe she wasn't quite right yesterday evening, she hopped into the run after running about and maybe she was a little uncomfortable then, but she still came over for a nose rub and ran around the garden. They both still came for their bedtime Carroty too.

Hope she responds well to the meds. At least she has her Bob to keep her company :)

I always take my two everywhere together, which is mostly a shame for Herbie as he is usually the one travelling when there is nothing wrong with him :)

hehe! these vets are very bunny friendly so are happy to accomodate their bun companions as well as the sick one. it's usually Bob who's the poorly one though and Pat is usually the one along for the, reluctant, ride!
