Personally I dont think it is a good idea to have a Rabbit registered with two different Vets unless BOTH Vets are aware of the situation

What if a significant reaction to a medication used were noted in the clinical records held by one Vet and then the other Vet used the same drug as he/she was unaware of a previous problem

Continuity of care is absolutely essential and if more than one Vet is to be consulted I believe it is potentially putting the Rabbit at risk if both Vets are unaware of each other's involvement.

Also, Vet/Client relationships need to be based on mutual trust. This cant be possible if clients are not up front about who they are consulting.

I agree - a vaccination isn't just a vaccination, it should also be a health check. You could easily end up in the situation where a vet doing the vaccination notes some issues which might not be clinically significant at the time but which do form part of a rounded 'picture' of an animal's health, but then those notes would not be available to another vet who ends up treating for a condition for which those notes might actually be significant. I would much rather stick with one vet, on the understanding with them that they would be happy to refer me to a specialist if the need beyond their expertise arose.

I'm registered at 2 now, but one of them is where the specialist is based. My original one I still go to for vaccs because I don't fancy a 45 min drive each way just for that! They both know though and records get updated between the 2.

I used one, V, when I lived in my previous house, moved to another, H, when I moved house, but the rabbit savvy vets left so I followed them to another practice, A. I used H for repeat prescriptions until a non rabbit savvy vet started questioning Grim's medication and wasn't happy he was on it so now I get repeats from A which are either posted to me or sent through to V. Grim is still registered at all three, I would use V for emergencies as my new one A is about two hours away. H, I don't go to any more as I don't like the way a non rabbit savvy vet decided to question his medication given to him by a rabbit savvy vet and almost refused to give me his repeat prescription just before Christmas. I would never want medication of a stable animal changed just before the vets close for days! And when I put through repeats no one rang me to tell me this they waited until I went in and then said and I had to spend half an hour arguing with them to let him have his medicine. :?

With Rosie and my guinea pig I go with a place called Woodlands Veterinary Group which I have been happy with. The majority of vets I have seen have great rabbit and guinea pig knowledge there :)
But I am going to take Pebbles to see the Companion Care vets for his neuter and if I feel that they know their stuff I might go there more regularly.

I have 3 bunnies, registered at 2 different vets!

Although this is as I have found a Fab new vet and I will be moving them all to the new one for their next checks!
