  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Scabby skin

Jasmine had a bald patch appear behind her ears while she was ill and the vet didn't think anything of it. Now I've noticed that the hair is growing back but it is scabby and powdery and now Jakes got a powdery thing going on behind his ears and his fur is thinning there aswell. I've heard of this before but cant remember what it is. Does anyone else know what the problem is?

Agree with Jane.

It's worth treating all the animals in your household. Xeno 200 works well or there is a spot on version.

I'm sure the vets will be able to tell you which mite it is under the microscope :)

Aah, she has been poorly over the pass few months but is hopefully on the mend now. What is Xeno 200 and 450? Are they injections? Are they a similar thing to dectomax? The vet said that they think the mite comes from hay maybe?

These are spot on treatments for MITES.

Avoid Xenex, please as Ive heard all sorts of bad stuff about that.

But the Xeno450 is good stuff.

ADVANTAGE is for bunny fleas.

Many folk get confused between the two.

Tis common bunnys get mites after illness as theyre low and susceptible....

Wishing both bunnies speedy recoverys.
