  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Went to get Hettie her jabs today, and asked the vet to have a look at Sweep's teeth, and he has a few little sharp points that aren't serious yet, but may need a dental in future :(

Those of you that have dental buns - how often did they need dentals and how much did they cost?

Also, did you take both buns from a bonded pair in when one had a dental (worried already about leaving Hettie at home on her own) :?

It is impossible to say how often Dentals may be needed as every Rabbit is different and it would depend entirely on their individual issues. Some can have a one-off Dental and never need another, some need 1 or 2 a year and some as frequently as every 4-5 weeks.

As to the cost, each Vet Surgery sets their own prices, so you would be best to obtain a quote from your Vet. As a very rough guide I'd estimate anything from £70-£150 depending on exactly what needs doing

I usually take both Rabbits in a bonded pair in to be admitted together
