  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Domino not looking good right now.. he's gone :'( :'( :'(

If he has EC and this is a new symptom I think I would be contacting the emergency vets immediately for advice that way you can give your buns history and meds and they would be much better placed to advise you than hoping someone comes on here in time to give you a good answer. Tell the vets he seems stressed and if they ask you to bring him out ask if it is essential as it may stress him further which is the last thing you want but our vets will give telephone advice.

He may be panicking and breathing fast because he is feeling dizzy and so he may only need comforting and perhaps some fleece blankets helping to prop him up if he is struggling to keep his balance, keep a bit of food and water close by so he doesn't have to move to eat. Other than that you can't do a lot, stay close so he knows you are there but I think EC care is just supportive, the bun has to fight it on his own, you can only help make him more comfortable.
