  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ive been putting it off for far too long but poppy needs spayed, shes not living with another bun so it was a necessity but recently shes been violent, biting me and others and thumping loads. Just half an hour ago i went into feed, water and hay her adn she had made a little nest out of hay and her own fur :?

Its just so expensive :oops: Is that bad? im gonna try n save all my wages for the next month and get her done but i need to ask some questions. Shes an outside bun, when she comes back will she be okay to go straight back out or will i need to keep her in till shes healed? and will she need any special attention whilst healing?

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

Your bunny is ok staying outside as long as she has nothing to jump on and off. Keeping the accommodation clean is very important and she should be fine.

You'll need to bring her in overnight really, they can't keep their body temperature up after a GA very well.

I just read somewhere to keep them away from hay :??

You might want to replace bedding with towels so as not to irritate the wound. Obviously she would definitely need to be indoors then as hay helps keep them warm. She will need some hay available though to eat.
