  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

VET ASAP! There may be damage to his teeth or in his mouth that you can not see, and this could lead to infection, eating difficulties (Even if not imediately) and then on to other serious problems possibly.
He really REALLY should see a vet!

I totally agree with this.

I too have injured my bunny before and it carriers intolerable guilt, especially if you do nothing.

Dont blame yourself, accidents happen and they can be wriggly little critters sometimes!

Is he eating OK? Id get him checked over by a vet anyway incase he needs some painkillers x

I also agree, get him checked at the vet.
He may have damaged his jaw or teeth.
Better to be safe than sorry.
Don't beat yourself up over dropping him. Bunnies have very powerful legs and I have also managed to drop mine. When I did it turned out he had hurt his spine. I took him to the emergency vet straight after I dropped him as it was an almoat 5ft drop, and by the time I go there he was hunched over and would hardly move.
Thankfully he recovered and we got painkillers for2 weeks. He was fine in the end but rabbits hide pain well.
Hope ur wee bunny is ok.
