hmm.. Why is the bunny on the sofa

Ok il try and picture this..

The cage is in the living room with his pen, which is fenced of with 4 metal sides of the metal outdoor cage from P@H...

One side of his pen is next to the side of the sofa.

For a few hours the misses was sitting on the floor next to the sofa/pen so patches has been sitting there most of the time next to her.

I get up at 10pm to get ready for bed and i hear the rustle of the metal cage pen Not thinking anything of it and just thinking teh misses leaned on the cage to get up i look around to be greeted with patches sitting on the arm of the sofa.. With a look of "what the hell.. how did i get up here"...Was laughing to myself most of the time after i put him in the cage because when we put him back in he was just confused he got up there lol

Just thought i would share this :D

Aww bless him. Around that time is when bunnies are more active and need most exercise, so perhaps he was feeling hyper and leapt further than he thought! He's never done it since, but my Barney, during a particular hyper bunny 500, managed to leap from the floor to on top of the back of the sofa in one bound, I was like  I think I remember a member on here whose bunny jumped on top of a 5 or 6ft fence.

Just so you know, you can let him out of the pen to run about, you dont have to sit next to it to socialise with him.

We want to let him out, But we are a bit scared he might wee everywhere *as he not be done yet* and bite the carpet..

Plus is there a thread anywhere on advise to make a room bunny safe?

As long as there are no poisonous stuff about the room will be safe for bunny, but the room may not be safe from the bunny  Basically, if you are supervising, all you need to do is hide wires that he can get to, chomping through them has never done my two any harm, but they are obviously expensive to replace!

The housing sticky I believe has some examples of Elena's setup, which is the best bunnyproofing I've seen and what I based my own on. Different bunnies need different levels of proofing, as long as you are watching him he wont be able to do any real damage.

If he wees just mop it up and pop some white vinegar on it so he's less likely to wee there again :) If he is usually litter trained he shouldnt be too bad, but you can always shoo him away if you see his weeing face! My Barney was free-range about 12 hours a day before he was neutered and it just meant I had to provide some extra trays but he was fine after littertraining. If it is not his territory he is more likely to spray it I think, than if he is in it often, as he wont feel the need to claim it.

Take some pictures! I'm sure he will love the chance to really stretch his legs!

My bunnys loved chewing wires and I heard of a bunny getting electrocuted ( urban legend or not ? Id rather not find out ) so got my Dad to house all accessible ones in cable tidys that box them in and stick to the wall. They look better than having free, dangling wires and keep buns safe too.
Also, if you can get your hands on carpet patches to place in corners / places your bun likes to chew/ dig at carpet this can deter them from doing too much damage.
Extra litter trays definately help.
Mine also chewed wooden chair legs. To be honest, my show home standards have had to go out the window since becoming a bun mum, but, as with kids (so im told) they are worth it... (im also replacing wooden chairs with expensive plastic ones :)
Provide lots of other alternatives to gnaw on and hopefully he will choose those.
I also have been firm in saying 'NO!' recently to undesirabe behaviour. Bunnys learn and mine are very responsive in stopping what i dont want them to be doing now when told no ( this took 4months though so persevere ).
Good luck.
When are you having him neutered anyway ?

Well he has his 2nd Vacc on tuesday, so we are probably going to book him in for his op when i leave on Tuesday
