unavoidable car journey

Hi there. Stew has been referred to an ophthalmologist for his recurring eye problems., the thing is we live in Leeds and have to get to Midfield, fifty minutes drive away. Feel anxious about such a long journey as Stew finds travelling stressful. I'll be taking Dumpling along too, hope they will be a calming influence for each other. Any tips for a stress free journey? X

I travel 45 minutes to my regular vet.
It may not be as bad as you think.
Keep music to a minimum, perhaps cover the box.Keep the car at a ok temperature, no smoking..that sort of thing.
Best of luck.xxx

I had a 45 min journey with a very sick bunny who couldn't breathe, andit was made worse by car journeys. He went with his friend.

I ensured my car was very cool (because they will get hot and stressed anyway, so the cooler it is the more comfortable it will be), made sure they couldn't slip around (so I used newspaper and a really thick layer of hay), I took his friend, I took my favourite music and sang all the way because with me being realxed, he wasm ore relaxed, and I, because I', naughty, had them in their carrier on the front seat next to me, with the door off and was stroking him, which always calmed him down. He was fine and it was worth it (his was a trip to a specialist too).

Good luck :)
