  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi All,

I have a Lionhead just over 1 yr old, we are suspecting she is going through adolesence as has enjoyed some time to herself lately even away from her best mate, our lop eared.... over the last day i have noticed her poos have halved in size?? still normal colour and dry just alot smaller, she is hairy and im concerned it might be a hairball that could could lead to GI Stasis as she may be molting ready for spring?..... or could she be eating less due to this time in her life.... she )lagonda and india are getting spayed in just over 3 weeks.....

please advise...... dont know if i should be ringing the vet tomo?

Thanks :):?

Hi, a reduction in size of poops is certainly an indication of a slowing down of the gut and this can certainly be sparked by a moult.

It sounds like bun is less active and eating less than normal if that is the case then yes I would get her to the vet ASAP.

Meantime, Encourage her to eat and drink. Offer all her favourites, wash any veg/leaves and leave them wet to keep up fluids, provide a bowl of water as this is easier to drink from if she's feeling poorly, encourage her to move around, keep her warm.

Is she outside?
