  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Think he's in stasis again (still got enough oomph to run away from me mind). No interest in food, sitting hunched. To the vets this morning, they don't open til half 8 so will give them a call then. Glad I have an understanding work!

oh bobalob, such a delicate little princess he is

Oh dear, sorry Bob is not well, hopefully once he has had some metaclopramide and pain meds he will perk up.

that usually fixes him right up, he's not had a stasis episode for about 5 months though. no idea what the trigger was this time! he was fine last night, he and Pat stomping over each other in desperation for their bedtime carroty treat. oh Bob you are a silly bun!

he's eating and pooping again now, but I went to the trouble of getting him an appointment at 9.40 so I might just take him along anyway. he's still being wary of me like he knows a vet trip is on the cards...don't want to assume he's now fine, only to come home from work to find he's lapsed again.

He's had metroclopwhatsit, a painkiller, and a syringe of critical care (which he definitely DID NOT WANT and most of it ended up on the floor , he hates syringe feeding!).

He was nibbling hay as soon as we got home so hopefully he'll be fine. He felt a little bloated at the vets apparently, but otherwise fine, his teefs are perfect too (both buns have very good teefs for their age!).

Will attempt a bit more critical care this evening if he'll have it, just to make sure his tum tum is moving properly. Who knows what brought on this bit of bloating!

He gave Pat a good chase (probably because she got all his breakfast) and scoffed his dinner this evening.
