Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Broken Toe

New Kit
Just been the the vets with April and they confirmed she has a broken toe.

They have given me some Metacam as she is in a little pain and have advised to see how it heals in the next few weeks before we make a decision to either leave it or remove it.

Anyone got any thoughts on how i could help it to heal? She is such a bossy boots i am going to struggle to get her to rest for very long and i suspect she would remove any type of bandage so any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

My zoid had a broken toe :( he fractured one on his back leg.

The vet we saw said that it wouldn't heal on it's own due to the bone being soooo small :(

He advised that we have the toe amputated, which we did.

He's fine and healthy now, but he did have a dose of metacam and another drug to aid in the healing process.... and when he came out from the vets it was all shaven and didn't look very pretty

But as i said above, he's fine and healthy now, so try not to worry too much.

So whilst i can't help in how you can help it heal,it's no tthe ned of the world if it needs to be removed :)

Elf broke his toe and we didn't attempt bandaging. He had pain-killer for a few weeks and then he stopped needing it as it healed up. He was less active than usual but as he's an outside bun he regulated that himself. The vet didn't advise keeping him in as the stress would be too much.

Now he's absolutely fine.
