Cuddles! New friend and new room. Pregnancy. :( PICS

Young Bun
So. A little slip up with Cuddles. The vets and stuff told us that She, and her bunny friend wouldn't be fertile until they are 6 months old. This was obviously a lie. :( Cuddles is 3.5 months and Hops is 4.5 months. We had them together, supervised and they didnt do anything the first few times, so we thought we were safe. And then we had them together and they mated. :( I'm convinced she is pregnant(this was 2 weeks ago), as she has started getting wider through the stomach area and has been attacking Hops a little bit!
But anyways, aside from that, she has been attacking me and not very nice. :( Im not sure whats happened but after her pregnancy we will be spaying her, i think it's her hormones. Sometimes she will stand for pats and stay there without being held but that is after she has attacked me a few times. I tell her NO, everytime she does it. :( I've never done anything to her but i suppose it's hormones. She might get over it once she is spayed.?
She's getting bigger and we changed their room.
After this week, Hops(the bigger grey bunny) will be staying outside so they will be separated. And he will be nuetered this week(though im aware there is a 7 week separation period needed afterwards.) He hasnt even tried mounting her since the first 3 times. He just stopped. Not sure whats happening there.
Anyways, we changed the room up as they were eating the carpet. They have hay and toys so we arent sure why Hops was chewing the carpet. We removed the good carpet and put in some small scraps of short carpet.
Onto pics! The first few are of her when she first arrived at my house.

It would be highly unlikely for her to be pregnant at 3.5months (or potentially younger). Not impossible but highly unlikely. Rabbits tend to hide their pregnancies so you don't see them until right near the end generally as well, although, if she is pregnant, it might be different because she is so young. Bear in mind it could be fatal for her because she is so young. Could you find a competent vet who could do an emergency spay?

It's possible her hormones are developing and potentially she might be a boy if her behaviour is changing at this age.

There are stickies in the health forum about breeding, litters and baby rabbits so it would be worth having a read.

Also remember that if you bond the two bunnies, then they have to remain together for the rest of their lives, no matter what happens between you and your gf, so be prepared for that aspect too.

An mergency spay is what I suggest too. Your rabbit is so young that even if she were able to give birth, there's a chance she would kill her babies or not feed them properly.
She's such a lovely bunny!
What is the little bald patch on top of her head?

Ditto what Sky-O said, but also thought I'd mention that if Hops has been indoors until now it will be much too cold and potentially life threatening to put him outside.

Hops is in Australia so it's coming to the end of summer there, now. The worry I'd have with Hops being outside is the possibility of myxi which, of course, it being Oz, Hops cannot be vaccinated against.

More follows... got to go and feed chickens, sheep and rabbits...

Her brothers thought it would be a smart idea to cut all the fur off poor Cuddles before giving her as a present. Presumably that's just where it hasn't regrown yet.

Cuddles looks absolutely gorgeous! What a dear little soul.

Cuddles is probably (probably) too young to get pregnant and Hops might be old enough to impregnate (just) but if there are no receptive eggs, you should be okay. Rabbit pregnancy is about 30 days so you've another 2 weeks before you know for sure if she is pregnant or not. I've no idea if you can have an emergency spay at her age but if you took Hops out 2 weeks ago, then she was only 3 months old (assuming the pet store / breeder was correct about her age). That makes it even less likely she is pregnant. My fingers are crossed that she isn't.

She may just be putting on weight because she's happy and has enough food. The attacking - of you and Hops - is probably her hormones kicking in though and even is she's not ready to reproduce, she's obviously preparing! Or, unfortunately, she may be missing Hops. I expect it is hormones though and she may calm down again once she's spayed.

Hops was probably attacking the carpet because it is in the bunny genes to dig. Neutering probably won't make any difference to that.

However, what Sky-O said upthread is really important. You only have to read on recent theads on RU to realise that many rabbits bond for life and they are devastated by the death of their mate and they really do grieve the loss. So if you bond Hops - or any other bunny - with Cuddles, you personally need to stay in control of what happens to that rabbit. If a rabbit belongs to a friend who may one day move on and take Cuddle's friend with him / her, that will be really upsetting for Cuddles and you'll want to think carefully whether you should introduce them.

This is one thread recently which shows how upset the surviving bun was when she realised her partner had died and this is another thread (post 7) showing how determined Dana was to be with the bun that was due to be her new friend. It's lovely to read about but it does show we have a real and ongoing responsibility for the happiness of these creatures.

I hope things are going well with you and it's lovely seeing how Cuddles is growing up. Thanks for the pics. :thumb: Love the little frog too.

Take care and best wishes to you.
