  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

dentals

hot cross bun

Alpha Buck
how is the best way of telling when buns need to have another dental its been around 3wks since she had dental but her eyes have still been runny from day 1?

It's very individual when it comes to bunnies. Some will just stop eating, some will show outwards signs of pain/discomfort, some will drink excessively and some may dribble or get watery eyes and some may just show subtle changes to their behaviour/habits.

For mine, I just look for any slightly abnormal behaviour. That tells me that something is wrong and invariably, in this house, that means dental time.

she has watery eyes but that never went from the time she had her 1st dental apart from her eyes she is normal?

What has your vet discussed with you regarding your bun's eyes?
If your vet hasn't discussed this with you, you should book another appointment for this and at the same time get your bun's teeth checked out :)

Dribbling, small poops, not eating/drinking, excessive drinking, wet chin, grinding teeth are all signs of dental needing time

she has none of the above apart from runny eyes which my vet said she will always suffer from due to her teeth roots, the top, bottom, left, right being so bad, infact the worst they have ever seen even in a adult bun?

There's not much someone can do about tooth roots however if they cause pain your bun will need pain relief for a very long time
