Personally I think adoption from a rescue will save you a small fortune in the long run and your initial outlay will be less as if you bought from a breeder you'd pay about £20 for each bun, £50-80 for spay/neuter, around £20 for their vaccines and they'd both need 2, myxi and vhd, it soon makes £45 for adoption seem like a bargain lol
As for NIC/C&C i've never bought them but there's loads of threads about them on here and some amazing set-ups using them! I get a bale of meadow hay a month from a local farm for £3.50 (total bargain imo). I buy 1 bag of burgess excel pellets about every 6 months for about £16 (they only get an egg cup full each a day so it lasts a while). I spend about £10 a week on fresh greens and dried forage and I set aside £10 a month for toys and rotate them regularly so they don't get bored. The insurance is £17 a month for them both.
All in all I don't think my monthly outlay is too bad. But my start up costs when I first got Bambi were huge (got her from a breeder :shock
I had to pay all of the above costs plus buying a shed, run, food, toys, snugglesafes, cleaning things. She was worth every penny though! And Harley and Quinn will get the benefit of it all when they move outside in the spring!
Good luck becoming a bunny mummy, and I look forward to seeing photos!
