PetPlan or Pets@Home Insurance?

Just wondering which to go with? :?

My 2 furry friends, soon to be 3, really ought to have insurance and I've looked at both these and can't make up my mind.

So question is who do you recommend?

Are there any others?

Ive read a fair few threads but can't seem to see a comparison view of the two unless I've missed it.

Thank you everyone

I personally went with pet plan. I haven't need to make a claim so can't recommend them on personal experience however my reasons for choosing them were that although the monthly payments are higher than p@h they have a lower excess but a higher claim limit (£2000 instead of £1500 if I remember correctly).
I'm not really much help lol but that was my choice anyway :D

Petplan must have changed because when I did a quote before it wouldn't let me cover Mini or Nutmeg who are both five this year. I'm seriously thinking about getting them all covered apart from Mischa (who is six this year and would have snuffles and dental and EC and goodness knows what else exclusions), I need to do some sums as I'd still have to put some money aside to cover vaccinations and Mischa.

what does pet plan actually cover I dont quite understand what it would and wouldnt cover

Read the small print! (and the big print for that matter)

Generally speaking it covers all vet costs EXCEPT regular preventative things (ie vaccinations, neutering, specialist feed, nail trimming), and EXCEPT problems that existed at the time the insurance was taken out (eg if the bun had a broken leg in the past they will not insure for anything to do with that leg - eg arthritis that might be a result of the original break, or if the bun is already identified as a 'dental' bun they will not cover dentals).

They will cover specialist treatment and diagnostics and also TO A CERTAIN LIMIT complementary stuff such as accupuncture.

In general you must also agree to keep the rabbit up to date with all recommended vaccines etc - ie you cannot claim for rabbit catching myxi if you have not bothered to vaccinate.

hope that helps

PS there is also an 'excess' you pay as with any insurance - which means you pay the first £55 of any claim (usually £55 may vary) BUT you only pay this once per problem. So if rabbit sees vet first time with a problem and the vet fee is £155 then you pay £55 and they pay £100 - next time you see vet for SAME problem in SAME financial year then they pay all of fee .

im deciding on insurance too. if i insure my 2 who are under a year at the moment, and i keeping paying, will they still be covered when they are 5+? i keep looking at the terms but cant find anything.(sorry to highjack slightly lol)

As long as you continue with the premiums, then yes. I can cover Mini, Nutmeg and Smudge now and continue their cover until they die if I keep paying but Mischa I can't because he's already over five.

mine are both with petplan, and get multipet discount with having 2 bunnies, wouldn;t be without insurance now, came in very handy wth mabel last year

We're with Petplan, didn't really consider any other as the rescue get some of our monthly premium (10% I think). Wouldn't be without it, we brought Ted home from the vets yesterday after a 3 night stay, he's been in GI stasis and the bill (so far, there'll be more meds) is over £1000. We pay about £23 a month total for both bunnies.

Ive literally just registered insurance for both Roxy and Rory on Pets@home ....but I didnt get the 10% for multiple pets?
I clicked Yes to the option but never had chance to put 2 on one policy? So did Roxy, then went through and started again and did Rory but yet again nowhere I could put that I was an existing customer? So have paid the full price for both? (£6:32 each)

That is the discount, I am 6.55 per bun for lifetime cover. I phoned about something else to check and that was the multi pet price.
