Insurance help

Mama Doe
So i've been against pet insurance for years, much preferred to put an amount of money away every month but slowly I'm starting to come round to the idea. Mainly for fear of a recurring problem arising really - so me and my dad have decided to have a look for some and I didn't realise how cheap it was to be honest! Found a P@H quote for £6 per bun per month (currently have just Sweep but in the process of adopting another bun as I type).

Got one question though - say Sweep develops an ongoing medical problem I know you have to pay the excess every year, but do the premiums rocket up when you renew it? And if they do, does anyone know by how much?

im wth petplan, the amount you pay monthly wth them stays the same no matter if you made claims the year before, also you pay excess of say £50 towards any treatment then make claim on any above cost, also any pre exisitng medical conditions prior to insuring will not be covered

Right I'm looking at P@H and Petplan cover, just tried ringing P@H to ask if they covered dentals and what restrictions they have on that and the woman didn't even understand what I was on about

Does anyone know whether there is a policy that covers regular burring/dentals? Sweep doesn't have any problems currently but just as a precaution :thumb:

Is the £6 / month one an annual policy or a for life policy? The annual ones wouldn't cover ongoing problems after a year. P@H offer both.

I know with PetPlan the premium isn't increased for sick rabbits, but it does go up a bit every year whether you claim or not.

petplan won;t pay out for regular burring/dentals, unless its done for another health related reason, i would presume PAH insurance goes along the same lines
however i wouldn;t be without insurance, it was a bg help last year when i had to make claims for mabel, she would of cost me over £500 at rough guess f it weren;t for my insurance, have dad to thank for makng me take insurance out

What happened to poor Mabel? :(

she had a hernia and dental operations, and also lost a lot of weight when became poorly while i was away soo they kept her in specialist vets, she is doing great now though :D

My sister in the US has a vet discount plan which she prefers, as she does not want another insurance company in her life. She seems satisfied so far with them. They're called Pet Assure and give a flat savings at the time of the visit without reimbursements etc. I wish there was something similar in the UK! I'll have to look around. They even have a page for rabbit insurance.

pets at home insurance

I am so happy that you posted about P@H insurance as I was about to fork out 250 for my 2 rabbits with ''exotic pets''... so it will only cost me 184.80 for the both of them for lifetime cover :D
