Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Curious - vets in Manchester area

Hello all,

Without giving away the name of my vet... (1 to see if they come recommended and 2 I study law and am all too aware of over-zealous slander accusations ;) )

I created a thread entitled, "Not a happy bunny" earlier and as a result of some of the responses on there, I am just wondering if there is anyone here in the Manchester area and have any particular vets they would recommended for my two bunnies?

Thank you
Stuart (and Amy)

My sister used Park Veterinary Clinic in Prestwich/Whitefield. They seemed to be really good with her rabbit and I used them once in an emergency where they were excellent.

Not sure of your exact location but if willing to travel I'd highly recommend Caroline at My Pets Vets based in Leigh.. I'm travelling to see her once a week at the moment and she is well worth the 40 min drive!

Thank you both for your suggestions. The vets in Prestwich is definitely a possibility. Sadly, we don't drive so Leigh is too far out :( We'd happily get a train but I can't imagine the bunnies would be impressed being boxed up for that length of time. Bless.

Depending on whereabouts you are:

Ashleigh, Whalley Range, particularly Aiden, who has published papers on rabbit medicine & spoken at the RWAF conference. A couple of the other exotics vets have only recently moved to the practice & I don't think any members on here know them yet.
Pennine Vets, Bury - particular interest in rabbits & guinea pigs
Molly Varga at Cheshire Pets in Holmes Chapel, one of the most highly qualified rabbit specialists in the country.

We're lucky to have a few good ones in the NW.

I think biscandmatt1 has also found another good rabbit vet in another part of town.

I have also heard good things about Ashleigh.

Victoria at Grove Vetinery in New Mills is very good as well although perhaps a bit far out for you.

I agree with Ashleigh, used them in the past, also I have just been to see Molly Varga at Chehire Pet and the care and effort they went to there to treat my very poorly bun was 100% fantastic. But they are at Holmes Chapel so maybe too far for you?
