Pru's results post 12 any ideas/ thoughts welcome

Hugo's There

Wise Old Thumper
Genna has had blood taken today just to make sure her kidneys are all ok after Gabby's turned out to be failing. Prudence has also had blood taken as her immune system is so run down she is having repeated bouts of mites, so we need to know if there is an underlying problem :(

Dexter has fluid on his lungs again :( Last time it happened he had x-rays as his heart didn't sound right and to see what was happening with his lungs, thankfully he responded well to meds. This time his heart sounds OK and he is back on the frusemide and on a very large dose of baytril. If he doesn't respond this time he will need to be admitted for more x-rays :(

So another stressful day waiting by the phone to find out if our bunnies are ok

Prayers for some good news and smoother sailing for you and your dear bunnies. :) Hope you're feeling better also.

Good news :D:D Genna's results are back she is fine :D:D

Still waiting on Pru's.

Dexter took his medicine like a good boy but then the first dose is always easiest as it takes them by surprise!!

I have Prudences results back which in away raise more questions than gives answers :?

She has a lowered white blood count with as we thought indicates her immune system is not working properly, this suggests she has an underlying chronic illness but we have no idea what. This in turn is causing her horrendous repeated mite infections, which in turn is making her anaemic. So she is sort of caught in a vicious circle but we have no idea why :(

Lara said if she was a dog or cat the next step would be to look at bone marrow but thats not a route we can go down with Prudence.

If anyone has had any similar experiences i would like to hear

The only experience of low white blood cell count (leukopenia) in rabbits was due to a heavy worm burden. My vet said cancer or severe infection often leads to leukopenia too though.

Thanks Amy. if she had a severe infection would she be well in herself :? As Pru is fine an bouncy as usual, although she has developed some hind leg weakness/arthritis in the past 6 months.

Jane she had her incisors out as a youngster 6 years ago, but otherwise is fine
