Warren Veteran
Well the decision has been made today that Scarlet will be off to see Francis. Our vet is going to ring her and discuss her teeth issues as he isn't happy with 10 to 12 week dentals (and nor am I) and wonders if she would benefit from an extraction of one tooth.
Since we adopted her last April, our vet has done 3 aggressive dentals, we have upped her hay eating (and are still in pursuit of a 90% hay diet, she'll get there eventually) and the frequency hasn't come down at all. She has one molar missing (unknown when or how with her being a rescue bun) so the tooth below has nothing to wear against and gradually curves over her tongue, and she also has one rogue upper molar that grows at a jaunty angle and goes into her cheek eventually (or would, obviously we don't let that happen). Our vet now feels that a specialist opinion is the best way forward.
I am very grateful for a vet that is happy to discuss with a specialist, knows the limits of his own practice, and thinks of my pets best long term interests. As he said, if anyone can fix Scarlet's teeth it'll be Francis.
Am part filled with dread at what my dear little bun may be about to embark on and hope that we might one day be able to get her dental frequency down.
Just information sharing really, but if anyone has any similar experiences to share I'd love to hear them.
