  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Alpha Buck
I was jsut clapping wee Sammy an it looks like his coat is riddled with fleas:cry:

He doesnt seem to be scratching much at all, it was just by chance i Noticed.

The vets are already closed. What can the vet do for him? or me?

Not sure whether to tell hubby - he'll over react and start scratching right away:roll:

He should see a vet for treatment (please avoid Xenex Ultra) and you'll also need to treat any other animals in the home, and wherever Sammy goes, and also likely your house too. If Sammy has a friend, she may also need treating.

Just wait till morning and see your vet.Get something for the house too.

Cant be helped.
Why dont you call them fleakies?? It wont make you feel so bad.....I do.

Thanks for replies

Will make an apointment for vets tomorrow, they are closed now. Poor wee guy he seems to be coping really well.

I know these things happen and cant be avoided but I know as soon as I say to hubby he's gonna freak (he's never had a pet before).

He's a single rabbit but will also take his enemy Leon to the vets too.

Thanks
