  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

dwarf/mini lop

Are you in the UK?

There is nothing "Dwarf" about Dwarf lops. They usually are around the 2.4kg mark, but this varies. You could find larger or smaller ones

Mini lops are generally around 1.3kg-1.8ish(?) "Pure bred" ones have very snubby little noses giving their head a "cobby" look. Of course there are long nosed DL and ML! :)

I have a dwarf lop and a mini lop. My dwarf lop is a lot bigger and has a pointier face. My mini lop has a small swished face.

Hi guys!

I must have large minis!!!! One is approx 1.92kg and the other bruiser is approx 2.35kg!!! Chunky monkeys!!!

Vet did say they were big for minis!!!!!

Mini Lops are the smallest of the lop breeds and also come with mane and long haired variations (mini lion lop and mini cashmere lop), they have the dwarf gene

Dwarf Lops are the second smallest of the lop breeds and don't actually have the dwarf gene

Although it depends on where you live, I think in Sweden it's backwards and in America the breeds are different too
