  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi Im just wondering if anyone has any idea what might have been wrong with my rabbit Jack the other day, he was very lethargic an just kept lying down all day, he didnt eat an didnt drink, the main thing that worried me was that his neck/ shoulder blades were shaking. Yesterday he was eating drinking and acting completely normal, at first I thought it could have been head tilt but we contacted the vets and they didnt really no what was wrong with him either they said he'd be fine. I was just wondering if anyone know's what could have been wrong with him x

i really would get him seen by a good bunny vet as the not eating/lethargy could indicate pain somewhere.

is he pooping and weeing normally?

no i dont think he was but we rang the vets and they said that he would be ok ? an the vet is very experienced with rabbits they said if it was something serious then he wouldnt be back to normal ?

If he's not eating it's an emergency. Rabbits go downhill very quickly when they don't eat. When was the last time he ate something?
