Not a health question just needed to get it off my chest. I check the forum regularly but haven't posted for a long time

I have just been told Tilly, who isn't quite 4 yet has a large thymoma and surgery isn't an option, her. The vet has been fantastic with Tilly and has consulted with a good friend who specialises in small mammals and the result is that she has very limited time and other than keeping her comfortable there is nothing that can be done

We rehomed Tilly and Smudge in November 2008 from Elaine at Tameside they weren't a bonded pair and with regular reference to RR I successfully bonded them and they are inseperable, I now know that we will lose Tilly in the near future, that we have to allow Smudge to deal with this when it happens and also know what to do for Smudge :cry:

:( So sorry to hear this.

I adopted Norria and Narla (in my avatar) from Freshfields in 2008. They were 3-4 yrs old and very closely bonded. Sadly Narla died in July this year.

Since then I have adopted two elderly partners for Norris from Windwhistle Warren. Coffee was 7 and sadly only spent 8 weeks with us before she passed away. In November I adopted Nutmeg, a 6 year-old cancer survivor. It took around two months for them to bond properly and there was a lot of fur pulling and chasing during that time. However, they are now inseparable and spend all day every day snuggled together. Norris seems happier than he has ever been before and has begun to binky like he hid when I first got him. He also flops out on Nutmeg and really enjoys her grooming him which Narla never did!

Rabbits live in the moment and your bunny won't be comparing a new partner to his previous one, he will just be enjoying her nose rubs and dewlap! If either Norris or Nutmeg died and I was in a position to, I would definitely rehome another elderly bunny. Sadly, there are so many in rescues with no hope of finding a forever home, but I have found adopting an incredibly rewarding experience and all of my family have too.

Hi Elaine, its good to see you back on the forum, just sorry its under such sad circumstances. i really hope you and Tilly still have plenty of quality time together xx

Forgot how good you guys are  We will certainly rehome when Smudge is ready for a new snuggle partner and in the meantime we will just spoil Tilly and 'sod the diet' and keep her happy and comfortable with loads of little nose rubs and kisses

Im so sorry to hear your sad news.

I am sure Tilly will enjoy being spoilt rotten for the time she has, lots of vibes that she remains comfortable & happy for as long as possible.x.x.

I'm so sorry  I hope Tilly can remain comfortable for as long as possible and you have a lot more quality time left together. Sending lots of vibes xx

That's so sad, I'm really sorry. I hope you, Tilly and Smudge enjoy your time together for a while yet xx
