  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Loose bottom?

Since Fearne has come here shes never actively seemed to go to a litter tray or even one set place for her poops..
they seem to just fall out of her bottom be it when she is running or when she is lieng down.
Its frequently she gets up from being huddled down and theire is a small mountain of poops.

I have never had this with the other bunnies and when i have spoken to the vet she said she seems healthy and couldnt think of why she would do it?

Any ideas?

She maybe has poor sphincter control or just doesn't have the inclination to sit still and poop. Maybe she just doesn't care and is too busy having a good time :D Obviously keep and eye on it but if she seems otherwise healthy and the vet is happy I would not worry too much.

Fearne does seem to do the same with wees its frequent i find a line of wee where she has walked??

I know she was poorly cared for before we took her from her previous owner.. is it possible it could be nerve damage?

how could we find out?
