URGENT: Rabbit Savvy Vet NEEDED in Ellesmere Port area

Neleh

Alpha Buck
Hi
My bun is being treated for EC/brain infection although there was also possible potato consumption and electric shock that may also have something to do with his condition, spinal injury hasn't been ruled out as no investigations have been carried out, just been given Panacur and Baytril -both for 28 days. Having spoken about him elsewhere on this site I've been advised that I may need a better vet to get him well again! I've seen that a few of you live near to me so I'm hoping that someone out there might just be able to recommend someone to get my gorgeous bunny walking and, with any luck, running around again like he was not so long ago! I love him dearly and have been caring for him night and day (my reward has been bunny kisses so I can't complain:love:)

all help kindly received =)

I'm right near you in Great Sutton - I think the best in the area will be CRANMORE near Costco - they have a hospital there too - very posh and up to date - they also have physiotherapy and hydrotherapy pools for animals -

I've been to Birch Road in Oxton, Birkenhead. I've recently moved to the Port and thought I could trust the practice I've been with all these years! I'm deffo peeved with them! Thanks for your help and advice.. Malteser tried walking with more success using my leg for sopport - I'm sure he is weak on one side.. I'm just so confused about what the issue is with him walking. I'm going to take him tomorrow =)

Hi all! Thanks for the help! :D:thumb:

I called around the vets given and have booked into a practice in Leigh! Its 40 mins to get there but thats ok. I found the other vets tended to say they deal with rabbits regularly, this is fine my vet also regularly deals with rabbits but I felt so let down by them that I just want a true rabbit expert to take a look at him! I might sound paranoid but I was really shocked by something I was told at my place that was so, so utterly wrong and shouldn't have been said by a vet that I just need some confidence restored in me right now.
I'd also like to say that for Birch Heath, I was told that the guy who is their main rabbit man isn't there much anymore, the others seem to be more bird/reptiles than rabbits and a basic consultation is £40 as they deal with exotics alone. I just thought I'd let you know should someone look at this who is looking for a specialist in the local area in future. I did book with them at first but I wasn't 100% confident with not seeing the rabbit man
I'm sure there are rabbit savvy vets within the practices mentioned but none of them could say they are truly specialists in buns when asked, right now I want someone who knows all there is about rabbits and will put my stressed head at ease and let me know a course of action so I can stop worrying and looking online all day everyday and get back to my uni work that I'm supposed to be doing when online :)

Thats great. I was going to pm tonight and see how you were getting on. Keep us updated :D

I will! I'll make a new thread for updates this eve. =) I will see if I can get some pics uploaded too :D

Thanks once again to you all, those who messaged here and those who PM'd me. It is amazing how caring and lovely you have been to take some time for a newcomer to give us the pointers we needed. Your kindness is remarkable, thanks for sparing us a few moments of your time and also for thinking of us to, we appreciate it
