(It's very misty but the "thing" in the distance is Ely Cathedral. On a clear day the view through the trees is breathtaking!)

At the end of the day...! Sleepy pups!

What breed is Howard? I keep thinking Papillon (my Copper is a Papillon) but then I'm thinking he looks more like long haired chi but with longer legs

Either way - he's gorgeous

That's Finnbar, my friends little pup! :) He's a (rather tall) Papillon. I think he's just over 6 months now.

Howard's a tricolour Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. :)

all beautiful the papillon will develop more feathering as he gets older on his ears and tail

:love::love::love:

Oh sorry got the names mixed up :)

He is lovely - and so tall!!! Copper was ex show stock because he grew too tall for the standard but he is still dwarfed by Finnbarr

(can you tell I have a soft spot for Papillons? I think it's those ears )

Do you have any pictures?

Finnbar unfortunately can be a bit of a bully, even at his young age! I'm not sure I could spend much time with him:oops:. He's "mummy'd quite a lot!

Much smaller and a lot fluffier - but he is 7 :D

It's quite annoying, now I'm at uni he spends his days at my nans house where he is literally allowed to do EVERYTHING, and he has turned into a little terror

He always behaves himself when I'm around though as I make sure he respects me (I'm a great fan of Cesar Millan and read all his books). I don't let him do what he wants and then I'm the only one he listens to, my mum can be stood at the door saying 'Copper please go outside and go to the toilet' and he is just lay down not even listening and I walk in and just say 'out' and out he trots

They are a very intelligent breed and need quite a lot of structured discapline to make sure they don't get 'small dog syndrome'

I train my dogs using APDT approved methods and they behave not just when I am around but other times, they will even follow commands from total strangers

What gorgeous dogs, and such a beautiful location to walk them.

Howard is still so dinky!

That's my friends house!:love::love: It's down a 1.5 mile dirt track and has woodland and an orchard, not to mention beautiful gardens. We're so lucky to have it there! It's my safe haven.:love:

Howard is so clever (even if I say it myself.) Last night I taught him "leave it" and he picked it up third try. He hadn't forgotten today when I was showing Tom. He's now got quite a list of things he's learned.

He's nothing like Mia, in mentality or looks, but is special in his own way! I love them equally! We were incredibly lucky that we got such a lovely, well balanced pup. :)

Loppy EArs - I don't 'train' copper as such. I don't really believe there is any need to train a dog - I just have a set of boundaries for him (no jumping on the sofa, let me through doors before him, make him wait calmly for his food, make him work for treats, sit before he goes outside/through a door and various others I do naturally and can't remember lol) and when he broke any of his set boundaries as a pup we would re-do the activity until he learnt to respect me. Now he respects me as soon as I walk through the door. All positive re-enforcement :)

He would take commands from strangers, but he won't take commands from my nan, or my mum as he knows there are no consequences if he doesn't and they just give up

Oh my mistake then sorry, I thought you were using Cesar Millan's methods

Oh my mistake then sorry, I thought you were using Cesar Millan's methods

I've had no need to really due to the exercises I did with him when he was younger - but Cesar made me understand the importance of being 'alpha dog' and also understanding what created a balanced, happy dog. Most of my interaction with Copper is based on his theories and I always reward calm submissive behaviour with food (always make him sit and wait) I do practice Cesar's method of walking, loose leash, shoulders up and Copper religiously walks either beside of behind me :thumb:

I think if I ever own a more 'difficult' dog (Copper is a very good dog when in the right hands) I hope I am well enough equipped to be able to make him/her calm and balanced.
