  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Good rabbit vet, Wirral area?

Title says it all really, the vets I have been to seems fine. They are booked in Feb for the chop so I just want to check out all my options before I go ahead really. It's good to look around I think :)

Acorn. It's a 2min walk from my house (In West Kirby) I know the good vets for the horses and who not to use but no idea with the rabbits!

I have mainly used Upton as I like one of the vets there but their prices have gone up recently (under new management). I will continue to go there with my dental bun as they know him so well.

Sorry not been on for a while! Thanks very much for all your replies! Spoken to a few other people and they said Acorn was also good, so that put my mind at rest....hope all goes ok with the first bun. There prices were the same for cats. So think it was 52 for male and 66 for female, what I expected any way :) Thanks so much !

I had my bun done last week at Vets4Pets in Prenton. They are fab and use a good exotic specialist in Tarpoley if a bun case gets tricky. They do a happy bunny package. http://www.vets4pets.com/healthy-pet-special-offers/happy-bunny-package/ Just thought I'd show you as its a really good offer and they are really good with rabbits - I gave Sean the vet a big quiz on rabbit medicine as I've recently had a bad experience at Birch Road so vets are not on my list of people to trust lately. I'm sure you're pleased with where you are going but thought I'd share this info should anyone look at this again in future xx

Oh good as I am about to register there :D The receptionist lady I spoke to seemed really lovely and interested in the girls too

The staff are so nice! We had a good chat about buns with one of the girls on reception on Friday. They keep buns in a queit area away from dogs if they have an op! I was pleased to hear they gave my bun a drug to keep his gut going when he had his neutering on wed! I've been super impressed as has my friend and her dad in the care their buns have recieved so far! Sean is awsome and wasn't phased by my on the spot quiz!
