Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Do i need to get alfie spayed ???

I have 2x rabbits 1 femail and she has been done and one male (Alfie 6mths) my question is do i need to get him spayed? is there any helth benifits like there are for femals ? the buns get on brill and apart from him being a bit messy in the loo department he is great?

please advise.
thanks

It would be advisable to get him neutered. As a boy he is likely to be a bit hump crazy and could potentially damage himself with 'over use'. Also, if he annoys his ladyfriend by humpng the wrong way round she may bite him which could be exceptionally serious. It gives the bond a maximum chance of success if he is neutered too. It also removes the risk of testicular cancer, which is lower than that in females, but still still there.

It's a much less invasive operation than for ladies too.

Females are spayed, males are neutered :)

I'd definitely get it done, it generally makes them cleaner (easier to litter train, no spraying), they should stop humping everything in sight (excessive humping can make them a bit sore  ), there should be less territorial problems so the rabbit could be friendlier, takes away the risk of testicular cancer and makes bonding a lot easier and more successful :)

Oh totally agree!! Male bunnies think with their plums...ALL THE TIME!!

Not so hard on him psychlogically/physically if he has them off.All that incessant humping will drive his lady friend mad aswell.xx
