  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Better after steroid injection - breathing difficulty update

Jazzy seems so much better after the steroid injection. Almost back to her old self. Could the injection have settled things down or will the problem return? The vet said it'll probably last for a few days before it wears off. I've moved her back into the summerhouse in case there was a problem being outside in the bike shed. Fingers crossed she dosn't get bad again.

The problem may well return once the steroid wears off, unfortunately.

All the steroid does is reduce inflammation. So if the primary cause of the inflammation is not resolved things will go back to how they were. Hopefully Jasmine will be lucky and this wont happen :)

I thought maybe there was a lack of air flow in the bike shed so I am hoping that by being in the summerhouse it will be better on her chest. Shes on anti biotics so if there was a minor infection that should clear it up unless its viral. She was in the summerhouse last winter and was fine. I wish I'd put her in there to start with - that was my gut instinct. :(
