Just got my rabbit insured with petplan

I asked if dentals were covered and he said i have to have annual dental checks and send a certificate in every 12 months also if i need to make a claim it has to me every 12 months, i dont have the paperwork yet they are sending them out to me but does this sound right? ive never had insurance for anything before
 
Yes, i was told the same, however, none of our dentals are covered and PetPlan won't pay out on them, even though we have the 12 monthly check. Not heard about sending a certificate in though?
 
I didnt think they would be covered but the way he said it sounded like it would be, i dont have any reason to believe Damian will need dentals just thought id ask while i was setting it up, will everything i can and can't claim for be in the paperwork, its ll new to me:?

this too, they paid out on mabels first dental as it was investigations sorrounding not putting weight on etc, but will not pay out any more on any future dentals, but they have paid out on other vet visits, like when she was hospitalised at vets over weekened etc, which was a big help

Yes, Ginger's 3 GI Stasis episodes have been paid out by Petplan :love: That was a HUGE help, as it cost in excess of £250. I paid the excess (£55) and the rest came in a cheque, which was really helpful :)
 
oh dont they pay direct to the vet then? my months free insurance (i got when went for his mixy) says it covers up to 4000 a year and the excess is £50 but my actual cover now is £2000 a year, hes going for his vhd soon im just waiting so they can tell me if hes got his dodads so i can book him for having them taken away rather than keep going back to ask

What policy did you go for? Is it a 'Covered for Life' policy?

Mine is £2000/yr per rabbit and £55 per incident excess.

They CAN pay directly to the vet - but our vets request payment after each treatment, unless its just not possible - so normally, we pay, put in a claim, get paid via cheque. also covered for life with my bunnies, actually just did sox last week, he had his free month, and it would run out tomorrow, wow 4 weeks of owning him already flown by :shock: :love: he 12 weeks tomoz :shock: and sorted his inusrance out and he got the next month free then pay monthly like mabel
 
Sounds right. Petplan only do a cover for life policy and the 4 weeks free gives you a lot more £ cover than a full policy does. Some vets will deal direct with Petplan, we normally do, however the specialist I had to take Minky to wouldn't do direct until I had claimed twice.
 
:thumb: for getting insurance sorted! We took out insurance on our two recently and are also now out of the excusion period so I have breathed a big sigh of relief!! :)
