Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Feeling down about Alice today

Hi,
Finding it a bit hard going with Alice today. She has a pain episode about once every 3-4 weeks as a result of her fibrous stomach lining and then has domperidone to kick start her followed by daily metacam, metaclop, ranatadine, probiotics.

She did very well following her previous episode and had re-gained weight and seemed lively and strong but this time she has lost weight which I'm trying to stabilise. Her tummy is working fine with all the meds and she is reasonably chirpy but it is a constant worry, waiting for signs of the next episode.

It is hard spacing out all the medicine correctly and she gets fed up too!

I don't expect any suggestions, just need to let off a bit of steam,

Nicki:)

How worrying :( It sounds like you've got her condition under control with the right meds though :) Sending vibes for Alice and hugs for you xx

Thanks for your kind thoughts,

She is a very poorly bun but when she is firing on all cylinders you wouldn't think there is anything wrong with her so it is well worth all the effort!
She is also an absolute darling!

I so feel for you. It can be tricky dealing with poorly buns. My Jassy is having breathing problems and it does leave you on edge as I find I am always out there just watching her fearing the worst then she'll just get up and go and have something to eat and then I'll feel relief and then she'll go quiet again. :(
