Well I'm very stressed with a lot of things and I very almost forget to pick up Grim's repeat prescription for his depocillin injections. I put the order in through the website about a week ago so I rushed down there just now before they close for Christmas.
They had lost the prescription. Not the drugs they had lost the order I placed. Apparently this had happened to a few people because their system had messed up. So the receptionist (who is lovely) went to find a vet to put it through for me.
I was waiting for ages and then she came back through and said that the vet was having trouble authorising it! He was reading through Grim's notes and couldn't understand why he was having the depocillin. Now not only does this put Grim at risk because without the depocillin his quality of life would be so compromised I would not keep him going. But it is also questioning the vet who put this on repeat for him. A vet I respect very much who has left the practice. He was basically saying he didn't trust her opinion. I had to explain to the receptionist why Grim was on the injections, what his illness was and how they were just keeping the infection at bay and basically 'making him comfortable' for however long he has left (hopefully a very long time). She went back to the vet and he agreed to put them through but I have to bring Grim in next time.
But then the receptionist had to make up the injections and I had to explain to her how to do it and how they needed to be drawn with one needle and then have a fresh one put on to inject with. It took almost half an hour in total while my friend was waiting for me in the car. I was so angry I had to come on here and have a rant.
I won't be taking Grim in because I'm going to take him up to Norwich to see my rabbit savvy vet. It's an hour and half journey there by bus but then I can see a vet I trust. The one today, I bet I know more about rabbit medicine than he does. If he can't understand why Grim is on the medicine he need to live then he won't be seeing Grim.
