Whats in your first aid kit?

LauryStevens

Mama Doe
Mine has:

Metacam (prescription)
10ml Plastic Dropper Bottle
Fibreplex
Burgess Excel Nature Snacks Dandelion
Syringe - 2ml and 5ml
Bio Lapis Sachets x5
Vetzyme Veterinary Ointment 25g
Infacol
Nail Clippers/scissors
Steropax Sterile Wound Dressing 6cm x2
Micropore tape
Sterile Low Adherent Wound Dressing Pads x5
Saline eye wash tubes x5
Cohesive Bandage (Vet Wrap)

I also need a soft birstle brush and probably some other meds but the only meds I can think of are prescription only :S Any suggestions?

What do you have in yours?

I must say, I don't have one !

I do have human first aid supplies in the cupboard right by the back door, so I'd use those if necessary. Mine don't have any pre-existing medical conditions so I don't have anything like that, if something happened I'd whip them to the vet :D

I have virtually the same but no Bio-lapis,

i also have some human bandages and this stuff you can make splints out of (its like foam with bendy metal running throughout it) and Fucithalmic/chloramphenicol ointment.

My human first aid kit is poor, apart from the stuff thats human/animal interchangeable i have steristrips but not a single plaster!!!

Gloooooooooooooves
Fenugreek crunchies
A carton of pineapple juice (great for icky medicanes or tempting them to drink)
A foil blanket (those recovery ones)
Claw clippers (safest place to keep them!)
Harness... in case I need to keep hold of them (random, I know!)
Scissors
Tweezers
............................................

And stuff you have pretty much. SS pellets mushed up with water pretty much makes 'critical care'. Oh, I have pro/pre biotic too.

Not go one properly put together but-
Healing skin cream
Nail clippers
Pineapple juice (mum loves it so we always have it anyway!)
5ml syringe
Baby food
The vets number!
ETA: Forgot sudocrem- Mischief had slight sore hocks when I first got her :)

The emergency vets phone number. ;)

This! Although I've rung it so many times I shouldn't need to look it up:?

I also have a very important piece of kit - a blood glucose testing kit + hypodermic needles. I haven't used it properly yet but I know it's there if I need it. I'm probably only going to use it if it's between about midnight and 7 am - otherwise if the rabbit isn't eating and is in pain then they would go straight to the vets anyway.

I also have:
Recovery food
Domperidone
Zantac
Metacam
Though again, I'd probably consult a vet before using any.
Bio lapis

Oh, and I guess Snuggle safe counts as emergency kit too.

Ahhhh yes, Snugglesafes!!!! I have two of those so I'll include them next time on my kit

Nail clippers
Sudocrem
Critical Care sachets
Metacloperamide
Fradexam (eye ointment for Timmys uveitis)
syringes and needles
Laxotone (from when Tilly had her blockage :()
Alcohol 100% (for when Im stressed...JOKE!)

I wish I had some Metacam for emergency use but my vet is very cautious about giving it

I also have bandages etc in my human first aid kit if needed

ETA. oh and a bunny sized hot water bottle!

I don't have a first aid kit as such, just a drawer full of regularly used meds;

Metacam (1.5mg/ml) Dog Version - Pain Relief
Emeprid (metaclopramide) - Gut Stimulant
Sudocrem - sore hocks
1ml syringes
5ml syringes
Metacam Syringes (good for syringe feeding)
Small tub of corn-flour (incase i get nail clipping wrong)
3x critical care sachets - emergency syringe feeding
Vets number

Care instructions are my most important item in that drawer. It contains everything about both buns health, occasional issues, wahts normal (but abnormal) for each bun, what to do with each item and the doses.

That's all incase one gets sick while im not here but my wife is, which is admittedly rare, but has happened.

 Maybe I should use that excuse and get some alcohol in that first aid kit too  I get Metacam every time I get a rabbit spayed/neutured, which seems to be quite often as I foster rabbits. So I usually always have a handy supply of the stuff :) Currently I only have a small bit left in a bottle but Skittles is going in for another spay on Wednesday (her first spay wasn't successful) so I should be getting another new bottle :)
I kind of wish I had other presciption meds though just incase :| ahh well, thats what the vet is for I guess :)

Yeh, although I have Metacloperamide and Laxotone, I wouldnt use either without instruction from my vet. I would only really administer Metacam without running it by my vet first, but I havent got any anyway unless I see him

Lola was a demanding bunny so we have so much of everything and in bulk due to her! She was worth it all though. I get sad though when I see the nebuliser as we keep that at the top of one of our kitchen cupboards and it always makes me feel sad thinking of her!

At one point Lola had to have a dose of valium after GA's to keep her calm and prevent her going into stasis..as you can imagine the vets wouldn't prescribe us with that .

We have had so many other meds too but obviously shelf life means I can;t store them :(
