  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Yay back from vets, well I was back a long time ago .........

my Bunnies have been healthchecked and have had their first VHD (anivac) inoculation's of course they have always been inoculated against myxo all their lives, I only found out about VHD on here thanks RU , The lionheads teeth are fine but my rex bella who has had a dental 1 & half years ago will need a dental sometime next year again Her molars are fine , its just the incisors, one is growing longer and will overlap, she will be okay for a few months. we are quite lucky really as they were expected to grow within a few months and its been over a year :D

They were weighed also:

Flopsy (lionhead) (male) 5yrs old next month: 2.32kg
lily (lionhead) *female* 6 months old: 2.13kg
Bella ( Rex) *female* 3 & half years old: 2.80kg

They said bella is a good weight but we have to be careful she doesnt put much more on lol

Do their weights sound good?

I am not sure about the weight as I only know pounds but surely someone else will be by soon. I just wanted to congratulations to you and bunnies on the great health check.

Well done for getting them vaccinated! VHD is such an evil disease, and that jab will completely prevent them from getting it. What lucky buns to have such a caring owner.

I'm not an expert on weight, but so long as you limit sugary food and their pellets (about an eggcupful a day for each bun if they're indoors, slightly more if they're outdoors) and they have plenty of space to hop and binky round in they'll be fine.
