  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

for those who follow bisc and matts 'snuffle' treatment/progress etc

you will remember that matt has parvolex and hypertonic saline in the nebuliser twice a day with bisc... and then every so often he has a week where gentamicin is added to the mix aswell when he has a flare up..

.. well at first he needed the gentamicin every 2 weeks, then we went to 4, then 4-5 and this time he has done 7 WEEKS before needing it! and it's not as bad of a flare up as normal! :D:D:D

so even after all this time, there is slight improvement again.. :D

and even more than that... he has been doing fine on a lower dose of metacam aswell. :D

Yaaay!!! Progress!!! :D
Lots of nose rubs! x

it's amazing because i thought that we had reached the amount of progress we were ever going to reach. but i could see a change in him and decided to lower his metacam and nothing changed (he didn't get any worse) then he ended up doing 7 weeks. i knew there had been a change. it will be really interesting to see how long he goes after this course now.

Fingers crossed he can keep it up. It's so nice when you have a breakthrough isn't it :D
Our vet has said that if Buckley can get to the end of his current bisolven sachet without having any snottyness or sneezing then he can come off it :D

i'm hoping it's not a one off and he will increase the time he goes between courses now and stay stable on less metacam. i sensed something was different with him though, i can't explain, he just seemed better and the last gentamicin course he played up so much with and i think now, looking back, he was telling me he didn't really need it. he did seem quite snotty at that time but we ended up having to stop the course because he didn't want it and then he kind of sneezed it all out and went ok again. so he must have been telling me that.. which means he may have gone longer than i think because he didn't even complete the last course fully.:shock:
