He is OK within himself, but he is still displaying symptoms that fit with a serious problem within his chest cavity

I also *think* I can detect a heart murmur

He has lost almost 100g in weight since Monday, despite eating like a Horse

Will report back later xx

We are back.

Both Vets think that Murphy has something nasty going on, probably a Thymoma  He would definitely need a GA/Xray to get good radiological views of his chest to confirm this. Obviously he is a very 'high risk' for a GA. Given that if it is a Thymoma I would not be putting him through surgery (which would need a Specialist Referral ) and that at the moment Murphy is 'well within himself' we are going the palliative care root. Corticosteroids are an option should his symptoms worsen, but these would be the last resort because of their side effects.

In short, Murphy is on borrowed time but he is not suffering. He is bright, eating well and interacting with his friend Harry. From now on it will be one day at a time and I hope that Murphy can remain 'feeling well' for as long as possible :)

Vibes for murphy. He is such a lucky bunny in that, although he is faced with this, he is in the very best place to ensure his final days/weeks/months are contented and comfortable

Murphy has gone downhill again overnight  He ate quite well yesterday aftenoon and evening. But this morning her does not want to know
He has had his meds and some fluids.

I think I may have to make 'the decision' in the next few days

Please note that I will take the advice of my trusted Vets re when to PTS I will not 'keep him going for my own sake'

I think it is his eye problem (EC induced uveitis/displaced lens) that is the source of pain. Within 10 minutes of applying his eye treatment he started eating again. He had Metacam too, but that cant have worked in 10 minutes as I gave it orally :?

We have known that eventually his eye problems would stop responding to treatment and enucleation would be needed. But given that Murphy has other significant health problems too I really dont know that I would put him through surgery

I will speak with either Laura or C tomorrow

Oh sorry Jane, I missed this when I was on yesterday. So sorry you have been going through a difficult time with Murphy, I am glad he has perked up a little bit today and hope this evening he is still doing ok. Sending lots of vibes and hope he can keep going xx

Jack's-Jane

Murphy is doing better now. I am 99.9% certain it is eye pain that is stopping him from eating. He is back on Maxitrol twice a day now as the once a day was not enough.

I am not happy with how his eye is looking now though

I will update tomorrow after speaking with Laura/C

xx

His poor eye  Its probably beyond this now but has he had Fradexam for it? It has worked wonders on Timmys uveitis twice now, although his was relatively mild. Sorry if Im way off, just thought it was worth a mention.

Loads of vibes for murphy bun xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
